Tesla unveils free Supercharger fast-charging station

Posted September 25, 2012 By Sia & filed under Uncategorized

We’re big fans of Tesla, and after driving our Tesla Roadster you would be too.  The thrust and agility of the car is intoxicating and we associate these attributes with both its nature as an electric car and with the Tesla brand.  Sure, when launching nearly silently to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds you often forget that the car you’re driving is completely gas-free and leaves behind no carbon footprint.  But, let’s not forget, this is a major feat.  Just this week Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, announced his ‘Supercharger’ charging station which can provide about 3 hours of steady driving in just 30 minutes of charging.  Fueled completely by solar energy, the Los Angeles reveal was a key step in showing that an infrastructure for electric vehicles is in fact a possibility; not to mention the positive PR for Tesla.  Let’s not forget that solar energy is completely free as well, and with gas prices the way they are this story is definitely enticing to many regardless of their opinion of EV’s.  Tesla hopes to have about 100 of these stations in the U.S. within the next 3 years, with intentions to further expand internationally.
