Utter the word “McLaren” and people will immediately know you are referring to speed and a high-priced vehicle. But how expensive? Well, it depends on the model. McLaren hustled all 375 of its P1 models to rightful owners at $1.15 million a piece. The MSRP of our MP4-12C slots just under $240k and the convertible at $265k. The rumored P13 is said to slot in a bit lower, at $160k and the flagship P15 at $500k. But with the introduction of the newest McLaren, the 650S, we wonder how much heat our wallets have to endure. On the eve of the New York Auto Show in coming weeks, McLaren is going to take the wraps of the 650S in the flesh, which finally gives us specific performance and pricing numbers for the hungry American market.

The 650S will set you back $265,500 and the spider, $280,225. That makes the 650S a bit pricier than our 12C, about $15k to be exact. Wait! Don’t get too upset, this pricing fits it in nicely with a main rival – the Ferrari 458 Italia models – with its coupe, Spider, and Speciale ranging $233k to $300k. McLaren boasts the official 0-60 time at 2.9 seconds–maddening, no? A quarter mile clocked at 10.5 seconds and a 207-mph top speed makes this one mean machine. We can’t wait to see this thing in the flesh, and luckily we have our strikingly similar MP4-12C to keep us satisfied–for now.
