Uber Ups the Ante with Luxury Jet Set Stunt Marketing
Not long ago, Travis Kalanick, CEO of private-car-hailing company Uber, mentioned that it was always in the company’s best interest to “roll with a little bit of flair.” Uber has pulled some nice flair-focused offerings, such as roses on Valentine’s Day for female Uber passengers. They’ve gone as far as offering ice-cream truck delivery, and as garish as a helicopter offerings straight to the Hamptons. This time around, Uber decided to employ the use of a private jet for Uber users in Paris and Nice for the Cannes Film Festival. Don’t forget the passengers will be able to book seats on the private jet right from the app itself, and be gathered by an Uber car on both ends of the trip, of course. The offering is christened UberJet. In short, the service can pick you up from your front door and deposit you on the red carpet via an app and a partnership with Goodwill Private Jets. Fee for the whole thing costs around $10,000 and can be split between a group of four passengers, or be had as an individual. If only Uber offered up one of our exotic car rentals instead of their aptly-named “black cars” to chauffeur us to and from lavish events. I think I’ll go for our convertible Ferrari F430.
