Audi Nanuk Quattro Concept is a wild surprise ahead of Frankfurt
So often here we’re detailing on sneak peeks, spy shots, and leaks, but sometimes it’s nice to get a good old-fashioned surprise at an auto show. Well, Audi takes the gold star (so far) on the surprise factor with its Nanuk Quattro Concept. The off-road coupe features a Twin-Turbo V10 TDI motor (yes, please!) that packs 544 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, and launches the car to 60 in only 3.8 seconds. Underneath lies Audi’s Quattro AWD system, but also included is Audi’s next-gen air suspension system (good for an additional 2.76 inches of clearance) and integral steering. For reference, integral steering allows the rear wheels to turn up to nine degrees in the opposite direction of the front wheels at low-to-medium speeds to help maneuverability, but pivot up to 2.5 degrees in the same direction of the front wheels at higher speeds to enhance stability; Porsche offers this on the 911 Turbo & a few other models. What’s great is that all of this powerful tech is an Italdesign fastback aesthetic that is nicely suited to fast, athletic driving. We hope to see one of these hopping around the desert at high speed soon!
