McLaren MP4-12C ‘Project Alpha’ cars being built for Chicago wealthy
We’ve heard via various blogs and publications that the exotic auto market has seen an increase in the demand for custom creations, but this really seems to be materializing more and more. We just recently noted a Dubai collector’s newest project for Ferrari, but customization is now not only for the individual but also for the collective. McLaren’s Chicago outpost has ordered 6 ‘Project Alpha’ MP4-12C’s due to customer demand. So how are these models different? They are hardly the unique creations that we see in one-offs but are undoubtedly special. This batch has cosmetic changes such as hood louvers and carbon fiber and black gloss finishes on the outside, with special badging and the like inside. Oh ya, and while they are 2012 models, they will benefit from 2013 changes such as 616 horsepower, revised shift and throttle logic, and a retuned exhaust.
