Lamborghini Says No to Hybrid Set-up For The Aventador And Gallardo
We’ve been seeing supercar brands using hybrid technology more often in their range-topping exotics, such as the soon-to-be Ferrari F70 and McLaren P1, but the bulls at Lamborghini are not in any rush to “hybridize” its supercars, particularly the Aventador and Gallardo. There are a few understandable reasons for this: a hybrid powertrain would not fit in either model and power-to-weight ratios would decrease below levels Lambo isn’t comfortable with. Instead, Lamborghini plans to roll out stop-start technology and cylinder deactivation (a 6-cylinder Aventador?!) to satisfy goals are greater efficiency. This is great, but what about the extra power provided by hybrid technology and electric motors in exotic cars? At the moment, it looks like Lambo will be sticking to monstrous gasoline power, though other efficiency goals are become well-planted, such as reducing CO2 emissions 35% by 2015.
