What’s next for Jaguar after the F-Type? A small sedan and a utility vehicle
With the grand unveiling of the Jaguar F-Type over (along with its $70k starting price), some are wondering exactly where the F-Type fits in the Jaguar lineup, and even more-so within the Jaguar brand. There is no doubt that the car aligns very well with the brand, but what were the intentions behind it? Well, it turns out that they were more than just a new beautiful sports car. Jaguar brand manager, Adrian Hallmark, has reassured us that the F-Type is essentially the Jaguar brand’s halo car, the car from which future design schemes and lifestyle creation will branch from. In essence, the F-Type is what many hoped it would be: a successor to the coveted E-Type. To add onto this, there is to be a small SUV and small sedan in the pipeline for Jag. Sure, we had the X-Type earlier in the millennium, but that’s a car everyone agrees to try and forget. We’re hoping for a solid 3-series competitor and while a Jaguar SUV (ahem, Range Rover?) isn’t what we necessarily wish for, it is a smart monetary move for the leaping cat.
