One-off Koenigsegg Agera R BLT Seized by Chinese Customs
Aw yes, the beautiful and often forgotten Koenigsegg Agera. As many know, the ferocious Koenigsegg Agera is known for its ability to nip at the heals of the Veyron with a sprint to 60 in under 3 seconds and a top speed well north of 200 mph. Not to mention, the car is stunning with its lateral design scheme and slippery smooth lines. It was just recently announced that the 2013 Agera R would now be available in the States, but it’s not only American that want a piece of this Swedish supercar. A super-exclusive one-off rendition of the car, the Agera R BLT, was on its way to China when local customs officials stopped its shipment and seized the car. Now, before you think this is some strange or immoral act by the Chinese government, it turns out the car’s wealthy receiver was actually avoiding import taxes. For the market, this special Koenigsegg ran about $2.7 million, but with import taxes applied this price would rise to nearly $4.7 million. You should always follow the law, but there is a little sympathy for the owner out there. Let’s hope he gets to hop in the driver’s seat one of these days.
