LF-LC Blue reveals the future culture of Lexus
We’ve known for some time now that Lexus wants (and needs) to inject a healthy dose of excitement into its brand and lineup. Lexus has passed tests of reliability, comfort, and conservative luxury with flying colors, but what about the heart-pumping performance we see from many of its competitors? Well, the F-line and LF-A supercar are definitely legitimate answers to this concern, but the re-release of its LF-LC concept shows that this drive is to be much more widespread across its future lineup. Recently revealed at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show in Sydney, the LF-LC “Blue” is a stunning car. Clad in a deep blue hue, the coupe sports Lexus’s “spindle” grille and a pair of wide, muscular rear fenders. Though the car has a gorgeous skin, its advanced carbon fiber construction and hybrid powerplant are focal points in and of themselves. The new powertrain makes use of an Atkinson cycle combustion engine paired with a high-energy battery pack that delivers greater power from a smaller battery. The motor is rated to produce an impressive 500 horsepower (more than any Lexus hybrid to date). There is a sober excitement surrounding how this new vision will actually implement itself into the Lexus brand. What may be even more exciting at the moment is whether the LF-LC may be the next SC coupe?
