French company to launch electric supercar next year
We can say it time and time again, but electricity really is coming into the spotlight as the big player for future supercars. Most models come in hybrid form, such as the exciting Porsche 918 Spyder or the mysterious Ferrari F70, but we now see that fully electric sporting autos aren’t just reserved for Fisker or Tesla. French automaker, Exagon, has revealed its “Furtive eGT,” an all-electric supercar with some impressive feats. First & foremost, the supercar is powered by two water-cooled Siemens electric motors linked to a three-speed tranny that is good for 402 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. You’ll find the Furtive eGT sprint to 60 in 3.5 seconds and hit 155 mph (electronically limited. In addition, by using ample amounts of carbon fiber and aluminum to fight off the high weight of its powertrain, this car comes in at 3,600 pounds; still heavy but lighter than many other electrics. Interestingly enough, an additional gas motor is an option rather than standard fare for those with range anxiety. The exclusivity of the car is ramped up by its lack of a dealer network and bespoke nature of production; it will only be delivered straight from the factory. Oh, and did we mention its price tag of over $500k? But don’t worry, whether or not you can avoid this electric supercar, it is only available in Europe.
