Rolls-Royce Ghost: The Sensual Luxury Car Experience
The fact that ultra-luxury and supercar brands today have the most expanded model lineups of all time is a hard pill to swallow for some, especially when those cars are SUV’s. But, these increased offerings ultimately help to not only make these coveted brands more accessible, but it keeps the brilliant minds behind them to churn out great automobiles and innovation. For decades Rolls-Royce has been a single-model brand with a sedan and a complementary coupe and convertible. We entered the new millennium and still faced the same phenomenon with the Phantom and Drophead coupe. But it was a decade into the millennium when we were introduced to a completely new Roller to drool over: the Ghost.
Our very own Rolls-Royce Ghost:
The possibility for a new model was ultimately made possible by the British brand’s linking up with BMW who would provide hardware for both the Phantom and the Ghost. It has some German guts, sure, but this Ghost is Rolls-Royce in all its British glory. We were ecstatic to welcome the Ghost into our collection, and it was the perfect addition to round out our luxury offerings. So, what makes this the ideal ultra-luxury vehicle? Let’s take a look.
Starting from the outside and working in, the Ghost oozes luxury appeal. A large sedan, the Ghost has a commanding presence though is more slight than its very large sister, the Phantom. The overall shape rightfully follows that of a classic Rolls-Royce sedan, a shape that is devout of any overly-ambitious curves or unexpected twists and turns. It is in the subtle cues where this car turns pretty into gorgeous. Items such as its embedded grille, simple and handsome headlights, and upward-sweeping side accent line that help make the Ghost a true looker without garishness. Plus, is there much better than when the valet opens a pair of suicide doors to welcome you to your luxurious haven? Not really, and we urge you to take ours out and indulge yourself in this experience.
Once you climb in you are, as expected, enveloped in luxury. The seats in this car are absolutely the most luscious in the industry. Visually and ergonomically the Ghost’s controls layout is luxuriously simple, with much functionality based in its “iDrive” style mouse (one of the few BMW cues). Our Ghost includes piano black veneer which looks stunning against its light cream upholstery. Spending time wrapped in these accommodations is not limited to being chauffeured or a special event. This is a thoroughly fulfilling luxury car experience good for any enthusiast’s intentions. Plus, as you’ll soon see, this ultra-lux sedan packs a punch.
Under hood lives a 6.6 liter Twin-Turbo V12 good for an eye-opening 563 horsepower and 575 lb.ft of torque. The power in this car is linear and smooth from a standstill all the way to its 4.7 second sprint to 60. Feeling this kind of muscle in such a comfortable and serene environment translates into a feeling of power for the driver that is intoxicating. In addition, the days of floaty luxury are long gone and the Ghost is a perfect example of that. Confident on backroads and composed over potholes, this car feels completely solid rather than “squishy.” Lastly, when it demands only your fingertips to turn its soft, thin steering wheel you’re reminded that you’re the captain of one of the world’s most coveted luxury cars.
All in all, the Rolls-Royce Ghost is an excellent addition to the Rolls lineup and to our paddock of exotic auto rentals. It’s less obstructive proportions (than the Phantom), clean and handsome design, flawless interior, and muscular powerplant mix to form the ideal package of luxury. Don’t hesitate to experience this type of luxury with our beautiful black Rolls-Royce Ghost. Pricing & Car Details HERE
