Not long ago we reported on the design and newly released images of the 2014 Maserati Quattroporte, but hardware was still a bit of a mystery. The clouds have been cleared and us enthusiasts have gotten the particulars on the newest rendition of Maserati's saloon. Many predictions proved correct in regards to there being two engine options, and boy do they look exciting. Coming in first is a twin-turbo 3.0 liter V6 rated at 410 hp, good for 0-60 times in the 5 second range and a top speed of 177 mph! Next up is a beastly twin-turbo 3.8 liter V8 producing 530 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. Interestingly enough, the new Quattroporte features an overboost function that lifts torque to 530 pound-feet momentarily in the bigger motor. This model sprints to 60 in 4.7 seconds and hits an impressive top speed of 191 mph. The motors will be mated to 8-speed “manu-matic” transmissions, with both RWD & AWD setups confirmed for Europe; a diesel option is also expected to be in the lineup. A large car, the Quattroporte is about the size of an S-class at tips the sclaes at ~4,200 pounds thanks to its preference for steel. The 2014 Maserati Quattroporte is to debut at the NAIAS in Detroit and we'll be sure to update on U.S. specific specs.
