It's the new year and for automotive brands that means setting big goals and posturing themselves as the best.  We've known for a little while that Maserati is looking to beef up its operations and presence in a slew of new automotive categories.  Recently a leaked product plan sheet confirmed that Fiat will push about  $1.3 billion into Maserati in order to expand its lineup.  This huge investment is with the intention to boost Maserati's annual sales to 50,000 units by 2016.  The cars included in this effort are the 2014 Maserati Quattroporte (which we've reported on), the Ghibli (said to be based on the Chrysler 300), and the Levante SUV that will be based on the Kubang concept and built on the Jeep Grand Cherokee platform.  This lineup will see the first time that a turbodiesel will be implemented in a Maserati and ample use of Ferrari-sourced V8's will be sure to be included.  In addition, a new “Gran Sport” model will be in the works to take on the Porsche 911.
