Aston Martin to debut exclusive roadster, hydrogen-burning Rapide next May
Aston Martin isn't going to let its centenary year pass by without some head-turning, impactful cars to make its mark. Word has it that among these cars will be a brand new roadster and a hydrigen-powered Rapide. Firstly, the roadster concept, currently dubbed CC100, is inspired by the 1956 DBR/1 race car that was on display at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this week (see below). The CC100 will borrow its underpinnings from the v12 Vantage and will have production numbers as low as 2. In addition, its street-legality is even unknown, but is still a very intriguing new creation from Aston Martin. The CC100 will be revealed at 24 Hours of Nurburgring in May. Next up is a Rapide capable of running on traditional gasoline or hydrogen and that is good for 500 hp. With it Aston Martin seeks to set the first-ever race-pace zero-emissions lap. AM CEO Ulrich Bez noted, “I believe this hydrogen hybrid technology is the way to zero emissions in 20, 30 or 40 years' time.” To top it all off, expect two more concepts from Aston Martin at our beloved Pebble Beach Concours this Summer.
