Horacio Pagani likes Lambo Veneno, LaFerrari…not so hot on McLaren P1
It's not too often that you get to hear an automaker's blatant opinion on its competitors (especially when coming from the founder), but Jalopnik got the inside scoop from Pagani's own Horacio Pagani. In light of the exciting new supercar debuts, and new competitors for the Huayra, Jalopnik asked Mr. Pagani his thoughts on these news tarmac-tearing hypercars. In short, he felt that while LaFerrari and Veneno carry on the soul and spirit of their predecessors, the P1 falls short. Since the P1 uses the same carbon-fiber tub and 3.8-liter V8 as the MP4-12C, he felt that it wasn't more than a tuned version. In addition, he felt that it just didn't do the F1 justice as a successor. The Veneno he thought was no more than a design exercise due to its scarcity, which with only 3 units, we think most would agree. At the time that Mr. Pagani was approached he hadn't seen LaFerrari yet, but he reassured his appreciation for his fellow Italian marque.
