New details emerge on Audi’s range-topping Supercar
With two Audi R8 rentals in our fleet, we know the special feeling of being behind the wheel of an Audi supercar. But, with new super and hypercars arriving on the scene, one might think, “when is Audi going to take it up another notch?” Well, as soon as possible. Building off of the immense success from its Le Mans-winning, diesel R18 e-tron race car. According to Car and Driver, the R10, as it will likely be called, will use a version of the 3.7L V6 turbodiesel found in the R18, good for output over 700hp, thanks to the addition of a front-mounted hybrid system as well. Though the R10 is a ways away, Audi quattro boss Franciscus Van Meel is already confident in its abilities, noting that it will be “the absolute best supercar” available, ready to take on the likes of machines like the McLaren P1. To say that we’re excited is a dramatic understatement. Plus, when a car is known internally at Audi as “Scorpion,” what isn’t there to be excited for?
