Lexus LF-LC gets the green light for production!
The Lexus LF-LC concept that debuted in Detroit last year was quite the hit and an unmistakably handsome sports coupe. It’s interesting that many (including Toyota insiders) thought that this car would purely be a concept. To us, this seemed like a perfectly feasible addition to the Lexus lineup. Why? Well, Lexus is desperately in need of a sports coupe (SC430 replacement), and it would work well to boost the performance-minded image they are trying to inject into the brand. Regardless, the LF-LC is good to go, and that’s coming from the company’s VP of marketing in the U.S. So, now the question becomes where the LF-LC will fit into the lineup. Some are speculating that it could be an LF-A replacement (not likely, in our opinion), and some think it could be more of a ~$100k SC replacement (more likely). Possible powertrains could come from the LS, with either a 4.2-liter V8 or the hybrid powertrain from the LS600hl. These facts are still far from known, but we’re sure some more details will be leaking before we know it. You’ll be the first to know! Stay tuned.
