Hennessey Venom GT takes production car top speed record
The day has come! The Veyron is now not the fastest production car on the road, thanks to Hennessey Performance for its ludicrous power-packing abilities that we all know and love. Hennessey claims the Venom GT clocked a top speed of 265.7 mph on a two mile stretch at the U.S. Naval Air Station (NAS) Lemoore in Central California back in February, which is faster than the production Veyron Super Sport. Now, though the Veyron Super Sport has achieved 267.8 mph, the production car is limited at 258 mph, making the Venom GT faster. Anyway, Hennessey claims te Venom GT could do 275 on the same 5-mile stretch that the Veyron achieved its numbers. The proof is indisputable, and we never did dispute it, but when we remind you that the car has 1,244 horsepower and 1,155 lb-ft of torque to carry just 2,743 pounds, it all makes sense. Congrats Hennessey Performance!
