Inifniti planning range-topping hybrid sports car?
While Infiniti has proven itself a venerable brand worldwide and one that is quite desirable, it's almost always been missing out on a truly high-end car to fill the halo vehicle position. Currently its most expensive car is its behemoth QX56 SUV. Reports have it that this long streak could possibly be broken by a new hybrid sports car, a report that we're not too shocked about based on the concepts the brand has put out in recent past, most of which were quite beautiful. Unveiled at Geneva last year, the Emerg-Efeatures a pair of electric motors mated to a 1.2-liter range-extending three-cylinder motor, altogether making 402 horsepower. The Essence concept, which debuted back in 2009, packs nearly 600 horsepower thanks to a 3.7 liter V6 mated to its electric mill. Don't expect any GT-R machinery in this car, as Infiniti doesn't find it malleable to a luxury brand. Fine, we can agree with that. Hopefully we'll see this car make its rounds soon, and perhaps we'll see it on the road as early as 2016!
