Mercedes SLC to fight 911 or replace SLS? Either way it will get a ‘Black’ version
Word on the street about an SLC model out of Mercedes has been brewing for some time now, but there have been some new developments in the chatter. The car has always been known to be a direct competitor to the 911, a sort of sportier SL, but less 'super' than the SLS. Well, the 911-fighting aspect is still alive and well, but many outlets are now saying the car will be a full-fledged replacement to the SLS. In our opintion, it may be tough to play both roles, but it is not impossible. It's very likely that the SLC will come in squarely for the 911, easily reaching $120k+, and perhaps a hot, Black Series rendition will help it to replace an SLS that will simply not be made anymore. Regardless, the car will offer no gullwing doors and will be lighter and slimmer thanks to plenty of carbon fiber and aluminum. A 485hp base version will likely be folowed by a 550hp S model, all of which should be topped off with a Black Series that nears 600hp. A coupe is the only body style supposedly in the works, but if the SLC is really going to pin the 911 against the wall, a convertible may very likely show itself. More to come!
