The Latest Luxury Home requirement in Los Angeles is…a moat?
What comes to mind when you first think of Los Angeles? Hollywood? Luxury homes? Exotic cars? Beautiful views and even more beautiful people? Well, yes Los Angeles has all of those things in varying degree, but consistency is key, and that is why luxury homeowners and designers alike constantly up the ante of comfortable. According to LA Times, well-known Californians have caught up on the latest trend—potentially Game of Thrones inspired—of installing a moat as part of their estate. A moat, you ask? Yes, of course. That brings us to the “why not” statement, as a moat is not only attractive but understatedly functional. In fact, a moat can double as a guardian barrier against unwanted intruders [paparazzi] and animals alike, without compromising the beautiful views many of the luxury homes come bundled with. Famous folk such as Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady, as well as J-Lo and Christina Aguilera, have all had seven-figure moats installed in their estates. Beverly Hills based designer Steve Hermann has worked on many a celebrity home, and he cites an inclusion of an ever-extravagant botox room in one of his unpurchased mansions. First give us a showroom-inspired garage to house our exotic car rentals and a cigar patio, then we’ll consider a moat.
