We car enthusiasts don’t get the luxury of a new Lamborghini reveal every day. That’s why the guys over at Lamborghini headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy are head over heels for their new raging bull—the Huracán LP 610-4. As you probably know by now, this baby is the successor to the ultra-popular Gallardo, which had a fantastic ten-year run as one of the best Lamborghini models to date. In fact, we know that our yellow drop-top Gallardo doesn’t skimp on the fun. To say we love our Gallardo is an understatement, however we can’t wait to get our mitts on this category 5.
In regards to styling, the car takes what made the Gallardo so iconic and throws some curves into the mix, resulting in what Lamborghini calls a hexagonal theme. The supercar’s styling is not for mere vanity, as the new theme creates three-percent drag reduction compared to the Gallardo as well as a whopping fifty-percent increase in downforce. We imagine, as with most modern car designs these days, that the Huracán will look even better in person than it does on screen. The interior of the Lambo is a thing of beauty. A combination of brushed and satin surfaces is the background for more prominent knobs and buttons, not to mention the striking new steering wheel. The wheel ditches traditional stalks for windshield wipers and the like, integrating them into the steering wheel to make room for super-sized paddle shifters.
We haven’t even gotten to the nitty-gritty. The new, naturally-aspirated Huracán engine is a 5.2-liter V10, fitted with some new Lambo tech called IDS, that combines traditional and direct fuel injection to up the mpg and output of the car. All this means is that the Lambo is still fast—610 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. Not like supercar mileage really matters, but this baby manages 19 miles per gallon, says Lamborghini. The Huracán mates its powerplant with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with various driving modes. Initial performance quotes bid well—0-62 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds. You want fast? This one will do. Additionally the car boasts an electric all-wheel-drive system with torque-splitting options. We believe the new Lamborghini ANIMA management software is worth mention—the Italian word for “soul” and an acronym for Adaptive Network Intelligent Management. This tech offers driver-adjustable modes for nearly everything—steering response alteration, transmission and engine mapping, all-wheel-drive systems and dampers. Can the Huracán eclipse the ultra-successful Gallardo in sales? With over 700 preorders, we consider the answer to be yes, but only time will tell. Until then, we have our very own yellow Lambo Gallardo to satisfy our cravings.
