Saleen tempts us with a tuned Tesla Model S
Though we haven’t had the as much electrified presence with our exotic car rental offerings as of late, we can’t help but give an ear unto the news that a new version of the Model S is in the works. Saleen has been hinting at ramping up production of a modified version of Tesla’s red-hot Model S, but without much detail. This week, however, that all has changed upon Saleen’s release of the modded sedan in rendering form. When it comes to Saleen, enthusiasts are used to the compelling exterior and under the hood changes that are to be expected; however with Tesla’s Model S, things are due to be a bit different.
The renderings indicate a host of visual changes for Saleen’s Tesla. The front fascia of the electrified luxury barge has been given a major nip-tuck. First and foremost, the front end lacks a grill, which did not do much in the first place. In fact, it solely acts as a visual styling element due to the absence of a gasoline engine. Saleen also threw on some louvered air intakes down below to add even more aggressive flair. A new creased hood adds to the aggression and quarter panel turn signals have been replaced with hollow units, presumably for appearance purposes. Renderings show a carbon fiber rear diffuser, carbon-ceramic breaks, and carbon fiber deckled trim. Out back we spot a much larger spoiler and a more aggressive rear bumper with cooling ducts for the brakes. Inside, the interior is mostly the same, however Saleen has made some adjustments with some leather and Alcantara upgrades. What about under the hood? CEO and founder, Steve Saleen, noted he, “fully intends to produce one of the most compelling Tesla’s to ever hit the roadway.” Time will have to tell with this one, but one thing is for sure–the Saleen Model S will prove to be one exotic car.
