Readers: Does “Sport-Auto” Magazine Owe Ferrari $70K for an Early LaFerrari review?
A German magazine, Sport-Auto, has published a video of their drivers whipping the near-1,000 hp LaFerrari around Ferrari’s Fiorano test track and on country roads. The video has since been taken down. According to the Italian automaker, they are now indebted $70,000 due to the fact that they had broken a press embargo set by Ferrari.
It all started when Ferrari served journalists with a contract that would charge them a pretty euro, 50,000 to be exact, if they released a review of the hybrid supercar before a specifically set date and time. The kicker is that the press embargo is set to lift at 6 o’clock p.m. EST, about an hour after Sport-Auto posted their notorious video. If you ask us, the video itself is not up to par with say, Autoblog or Motortrend’s review, but here it is nonetheless. There is not even speaking in the review itself, so it may not even earn that name. Press embargoes are press embargoes, but does this magazine owe Ferrari $70K? You be the judge.
