New Maserati Models are Flowing down the Pipeline
The newly reenergized Masterati has released some exciting news about what to expect from its lineup over the next five years. The announcement arrives on the heels of major news from the bigger branches of the Fiat Chrysler group. Maserati has declared it aims to shake up its existing model line. Unfortunately for the true sportscar enthusiast, 2014 marks the death of the current GranTurismo coupe and convertible variants, which limits the lineup to just its Quattroporte and Ghibli sedans. We are particularly disappointed to hear this, but luckily we have our very own gray GranTurismo droptop to keep both ourselves and our members sated.
2015 brings the long-awaited Levante SUV, first seen in 2011 in concept form, rounding out the conventionality of the lineup. The love-it-or-hate-it SUV will be fitted with the two V6 choices, 350 and 425 horsepower, respectively. Can’t forget standard all-wheel drive. Has Maserati turned into a carmaker that only pumps out four door luxe people-haulers? Not exactly! The production-ready Alfieri coupe will drop in 2016 with the convertible coming the following year. It boasts a 410-hp V6 with rear-wheel drive, or a 450-hp or 520-hp system (both V6s) that propel the coupe with all four wheels. Not too excited about the new, but smaller, Alfieri? 2018 brings the revival of the larger GranTurismo sportscar, concealing a 560-hp V8 sending power to the rear wheels. Luckily, the beastly V8 will grace the top-tier trims of the Levante, Ghibli, and Quattroporte. The company hopes to raise its sales figures from 15.4K in 2013 to 75K units in 2018. All we can say is, hustle like mad, Maserati. We don’t ever want to give away our GranTurismo exotic rental offering, as its now becoming an instant classic with this news. They say change is good, right?
