When you hear the possibility of a car hitting 60 mph, from a stop, you begin to imagine the laws of physics working tirelessly to keep it together while mankind teeters on the edge of defying them. Well, thanks to Nissan and NISMO, we’re about to see this happen very soon. Recently Nissan has announced the debut of the NISMO GT-R at the Tokyo Motor Show later this year, and the U.K.’s Autocar has leveraged inside sources to claim that 60 will hit in just 2 seconds. In addition, Nissan has claimed the NISMO variant as the “fastest GT-R ever,” which when you consider all of the outstanding modified GT-R’s out there, is a bold, exciting statement straight from the source. If true, the NISMO GT-R will be the world’s fastest production vehicle, besting beasts like the Bugatti Veyron and Ariel Atom. In addition, a Williams Advanced Engineering engineer told Auto Express, “You’d be surprised at how much room for improvement there is – even with a car like the GT-R…Where you expect it’s all been tuned to the maximum, it’s actually easy to make big gains.” We like the sound of that. Expect a price tag of ~$150k once the Nissan NISMO GT-R hits the tarmac. But first, see what the GT-R is all about by hopping in the driver’s seat of our 2013 Nissan GT-R rental or 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition rental.
