Porsche celebrates 5M Facebook fans with crowdsourced one-off 911
Special edition sports cars and supercars are always a nice treat, especially when it comes to the 991 Porsche 911. In this case we’re looking at a Carrera 4s that celebrates Porsche’s admirable acquisition of 5mm fans on Facebook. And who do you think designed this social-centric 911? The fans, of course. Once checking over the details and giving the car a look, it’s a bit skeptical as to how much the fans input was incorporated into the design, after all, the car essentially just sports Facebook brand colors with a handsome aero package. Regardless of highly unique changes or not, the aero package looks great and the rich blue paint and white rims are very attractive on the 911. Mechanically there are no changes but inside you can expect plenty of special badging, including a dashboard engraving that says, “Personally Built by 5 Million Porsche Fans.” Interestingly enough, in February of 2011 Porsche celebrated its first million fans with a special 911 GT3-R Hybrid (sweet), and marked two million with a Cayman S donned with all of the fans’ faces (neat & relevant). In terms of social following, Ferrari beats Porsche by a sizable amount (12 million fans), but isn’t growing quite as fast…Can Porsche catch up?
