$188,000 is what it takes to get McLaren’s newest creation, the 540C. McLaren hopes to capture the daily driven and “affordable” supercar market with this 533 brake horsepower, sleek road car. The 3.8 litre twin turbo V8 mounted in the middle of the car is the same one found in our McLaren MP4-12C, the 650S and the 570S. The power it generates is more than enough for it’s size with 398lb feet of torque and 533 horsepower being sent to the rear wheels through a 7 speed dual clutch transmission. 0 – 60 takes less than 3.5 seconds and if you have enough road it will get to 199 miles per hour before the limiter kicks in. If you drive it like it’s a Camry, you’ll be able to get up to 25 miles per gallon which makes it one of the most fuel efficient supercars we’ve heard of. McLaren’s break steer system will also be standard on the 540C, assisting the car through corners by slowing down the inside rear wheel. With it’s surprising fuel economy, comfortable interior and new softer suspension the 540C seems like a great road trip car or daily driver.
Deliveries of the 540C will begin in early 2016.
