We’ve been immensely satisfied with the 495 horsepower in our new Jaguar F-Type V8s rental, but news of a possible 700-horsepower rendition on the yet-to-be-revealed coupe is some freakin’ awesome news. To some, even the 500 horsepower of the V8s is a high rating for a car they thought was a sub-XK offering from Jag, but remember, this cat has its claws aimed directly at the 911. So, how would Jag churn an eye-opening 700 horses and over 200 mph out of the F-Type. As of now it is likely that an advanced gas-hybrid powertrain would be the source, drawing considerable inspiration from the C-X75 supercar concept that never made it to the showroom. Reports show that a downsized gas motor would be paired with both a supercharger and a turbocharger, in addition to several electric motors. Sounds crazy complex but crazy exciting too. Currently dubbed the F-Type R-S, Jag’s exotic F-Type would hit the road in 2016 at the earliest. Updates to come!
