Dang, 29 mpg in a Vette? Believe it. Chevy recently released the impressive numbers of the C7 Corvette and they are surely one of the iconic markers of the Vette’s (and the entire sports car segment’s) impressive evolution and modernization. Sure, there are some sports cars that go tit-for-tat with the C7 in fuel efficiency, such as the Porsche Cayman, but let’s not forget that the Corvette packs a 455 horsepower 6.2L V8. Can you imagine matching these stats together 10, 20, 30 years ago? Pretty outstanding. For comparison, the 400hp Porsche 911 Carrera S achieves 27 mpg, while the 495hp Jaguar F-Type V8 S only musters 23 mpg. The Vette’s stats were achieved in its 7-speed manual (auto stats to come), and the 29 mpg represents an average between “Touring” and “Eco” modes.
