Mercedes-Benz Announces Two Very Special Classics for Pebble Beach
The beloved Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance (arguably the most renowned show of the series) will be coming to town on August 17th and the Club can’t wait. Not only will the show be blessed with the presence of Club Sportiva members and many from our collection of exotic car rentals, but it will also be welcoming two very exclusive cars straight from Mercedes-Benz’s collection. The first of these cars is the ‘Prinz Heinrich’ Benzwhich was developed for a production car race in Germany dubbed, well, the ‘Prince Heinrich Tour;’ you can see what this car was intended to do. Mercedes-Benz (which at the time was not known as such) would enter 10 cars into the 1910 race, with this stunning example being one of them (neat stuff!). The car is powered by a 5.7-liter four-cylinder engine good for 80hp and 80 mph, which is damn good for 1910. Next up is a less sporting vehicle, but surely a luxurious one: the 1907 24/40 hp Benz landaulet. This series of cars features 6.1 liter four-cylinder motors (cylinders cast in pairs) good for 40hp with a top speed of about 50mph. All in all, both of these vehicles are special guests of the show, but will they take awards like Mercedes-Benz’s Best-of-Show 680S Torpedo? We’ll keep you updated!
