We’ve known for some time now that Lexus would be gracing the streets with a new sports coupe to go after the likes of the BMW M4 and perhaps act as a placeholder amid the long-gone SC coupe. This is all great news, but the auto world has been hungry for details, and now there are some delicious new bits. Just as the LF-A’s screaming V10 is music to our ears, so is the fact that LF-A technology will be finding its way into the new RC, particularly the RC F. The RC F’s hood, roof and trunk lid will all be carbon fiber and a hood scoop visible in spy photos is part of an aero package that routes air to the car’s underbody to improve high-speed downforce. Why the need for high-speed optimization? Well, the car is to be fitted with a 455 horsepower, 401 lb-ft of torque rendition on Lexus’s 5.0L V8. The beefy V8 wasn’t always a ‘for sure’ due to European C02 regulations, but cylinder deactivation technology will help quell those concerns. Word has it that the RC F will carry a price tag north of $100k which is an interesting proposition seeing as how its main competitor is as much as $40k less. Expect the big RC reveal at this year’s Detroit Auto Show.
