Well, well, well, it looks like Jaguar will have a definite place in the SUV market despite years and years of absence among its fellow luxury brand competitors. When thinking about why the cat hasn’t been in the SUV game there are a few solid reasons. Firstly, it seemed as though an SUV fit less with Jag than its competitors, perhaps because of its smaller lineup and such strong associations with low-profile, sporting cars. Secondly, Land Rover. For a long time the brands have been closely associated and have had their hands in the same parts bin. With that being said, word has it that the Jag SUV will be small and sporting like the BMW X3 or Audi Q5 rather than large and luxurious like the X5 or ML. Power is to be sourced from a standard 4-cylinder mill, with an optional V6, both of which are to be routed from Jag’s upcoming 3-Series rival (it’s all starting to make sense now). Young, affluent families can expect rear-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive as an option, and a base price tag just under $50k. At this point, we’re curious what she’s going to look like more than anything…Updates to come!
