Did the Ford GT and a Shleby concept car have a love child recently? After seeing the Galpin Auto Sports GTR1 you just might think so. But to be honest, rather than dwelling on the less-than-stellar, but still pleasingly exotic aesthetics, we’re thrilled with the bold and ferocious (all gas) specs of this new boutique hypercar. The mid-mounted, twin-turbo, 5.4 liter V8 pumps out 1,024 horsepower and 739 lb-ft of torque. But before you get skid out here, it gets better. Surpass your local Chevron for 100 octane fuel and you’ll get 1,197 horsepower and 887 lb-ft of torque. What do all those horsies get you? Over 200 mph, a sprint to 60 in 3.1 seconds, and 0-200-0 in only 18.9 seconds. The GTR1 tips the scales at only 3,000 pounds and has a nearly perfect weight distribution of 51/49; that’s what we call athletic. Also, if you didn’t pick up on it yet, the GTR1 is more powerful than the Porsche 918 Spyder, LaFerrari, and McLaren P1. We can expect up to 24 examples to be built, with the all-carbon-fiber examples running $1,024,000 (you can also opt to aluminum). Production is set to start in early 2014.
