A. Kahn owner turns down $9M offer for his Veyron’s ‘F1’ license plate
Afzal Kahn, owner of Kahn Design, the automotive design and modification house, has just turned down millions of dollars in free cash for the sake of a vanity plate – believe it. Back in 2008 the British businessman and exotic car afficionado snapped up the “F1” vanity plate in the U.K. for a very expensive $870,000. Who would be crazy enough to spend THAT much money on a vanity plate? Club Sportiva members can understand the value and satisfaction that personalization provides in an automotive experience, but yikes! On the flip side, how crazy do you have to be to turn down a $9.3m offer (well over $8m profit) to sell the plate? This will likely not be the last offer that is proposed, so all in all the initial purchase very well may have been a very prudent move if he so chooses to do away with F1 (we’re not banking on it). The plate currently resides on Kahn’s Bugatti Veyron and alongside other coveted personal plates on much of his other exotic cars.
