Bentley’s V-8 Continental Models Get Sportier ‘S’ Trim
Who doesn’t love a sporty rendition on the Bentley Continental GT? Whether aftermarket or stock, performance enhancements on Bentley’s iconic GT have always been welcome, and 2014 is no exception. The latest generation GT is offered up with a lightweight (but powerful) V8 option to accompnay its V12 bruiser, and has been positioned as the lighter, more performance-oriented model. For 2014 Bentley has added even more sprightliness with new V8 ‘S’ options on the coupe and convertible. ‘S’ variants get stiffer suspension, sharper steering, freed up exhaust, and raised output, all in addition to unique styling cues and badging. Power figures for the classic V8 GT’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine include 500 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque. But, in the new S models output rises to 521 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque, the latter of which is delivered at a mere 1,700 rpm! All of this is good for a 0-60 mph time of 4.3 seconds and top speed of 192 mph for the GT V8 S, and 4.5 seconds and 191 mph for the GTC V8 S. Oh ya, let us remind you that the coupe weighs 5,060 pounds and the convertible weighs 5,445 pounds – Impressive! There’s no better way to get a taste of the renowned luxury/performance mix of the Bentley Continental GT than in our limited edition 80-11 Bentley Continental GT Convertible rental. Look no further!
