After nearly 20 years Mercedes is resurrecting the ‘S-Class Coupe’ moniker and the car that is planned to wear the badge looks to be an executive stunner.  Replacing the CL of recent past, the S-Class coupe will borrow much of the revolutionary technology and power from the S-Class but will wrap it all in a big, sleek, pillar-less, 2-door package.  And when we say big, we mean it.  The concept comes in at about 200 inches, but that’s how Mercedes wants it, and how the teutonic luxury coupe should be.  As you can see below, the coupe sports luxurious proportions, with a far-reaching front end that culminates in a protruding snout, all of which swoops back to a rounded and tightened up rear that is reminiscent of the SLS.  Inside the car features a “black diamond” surface treatment that uses chemical vapor deposition gas phasing to deposit precious metals on chrome surfaces at temperatures exceeding 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit.  What does this all result in?  Completely scratch-free surfaces throughout the car.  This fancy tech could very well find itself inside the production car, but we’re not counting on the color combo nor the bold staggered 21-inch rims – but hey, you never know!  The production S-class Coupe has been spotted testing around and is expected to be revealed in a few months before going on sale next year as a 2015 model.
