Nissan GT-R to get Williams-designed hybrid drivetrain?
Ever since the Nissan GT-R hit the scene in 2007 (Stateside in 2008), not ony has Club Sportiva offered it as a Nissan GT-R rental, but the car has wow’d enthusiasts across the globe with its sticky AWD and outstanding acceleration; our 2013 Nissan GT-R rental hits 60 in just 2.9 seconds. So, despite refreshments (both mechanically and aesthetically) all eyes are on the next generation GT-R, as well as a NISMO model that is reported to be a complete and total jaw-dropper in terms of performance. The next-gen GT-R will hit the scene in 2015 at the earliest and will reportedly benefit from a hybrid system developed by England’s Williams Hybrid Power, a system which uses kinetic energy for extra boosts. Overall, the hybrid system is noted as highly efficient and effective and has already been used in admirable race vehicles such as the Le Mans-winning Audi R18 e-tron race car and the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR Hybrid. Recent trademark filings give us the tip that the car is likely to utilize a ‘R-Hybrid’ badge. What is even more in sight is the NISMO GT-R which most think will first be seen at the Tokyo Motor Show. Catch this, the NISMO GT-R is set to hit 60 mph in just 2 seconds. Yeah, that’s ‘world’s quickest car’ status. Nissan is exciting us, to say the least. Accelerating in a Nissan GT-R is a once in a lifetime experience, have it in our 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition rental or 2013 Nissan GT-R rental.
