2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Laps The ‘Ring In 7:37.47
Club Sportiva has many foreign exotic cars in the line-up, but all of our clubhouses are in the U.S. and in turn at least a little bit proud of a domestic brand stirring up the automotive world with eye-opening performance. Well, the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is that car ever since it recently tore up the famed Nurburgring in 7:37.47. For anyone that is familiar with Nurburgring times, this is outstanding. Outstanding enough to best the likes of the Porsche 911 Carrera S and Audi R8 v10 – very impressive. What adds to this feat is the fact that the Camaro Z/28 did it all with a good ol’ pushrod V8, rear-wheel drive, and a manual transmission (yes, a classic stick). To be more specific, the Z/28 carries a 500-horsepower 7.0-liter LS7 V-8, a Tremec six-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, carbon ceramic brakes, Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires, Recaro seats and a 300-pound weight advantage over the 4,120-pound ZL1. Chevy is confident about 6 seconds could be shaved off that time if the track conditions were fully ideal (it actually got slightly rainy during the session). Clearly sometimes you just can’t beat big American muscle!
