Aston Martin sticking to V12 engines, ruling out hybrids
Whenever a trend is super hot, be it in fashion, tech, or cars, there is always going to be someone who is outspoken about defying the trend in favor of being unique. This is nearly always the case, but never a bad thing. In the exotic auto industry today this applies to the hybridization of supercars and hypercars…and Aston Martin’s distaste for the whole thing. As some of our favorite brands like Ferrari, McLaren, and Porsche supplement their gas powerhouses with hybrid power, Aston Martin (under the direction of current CEO Ulrich Bez) will hold tightly to its V12 motors, opting out of hybrid options. The most powerful man at Aston Martin recently made his thoughts clear: “Hybridization has two aspects: To pass someone in Formula 1, which is irrelevant on the road, and to increase fuel efficiency. It is very simple: If you drive a little slower, you will be much better off…Maybe I am too old for those things. Minimalist engineering is where we should be and not in [hybrids].” Innovation & technological advancement will be anything but absent at Aston Martin, but just expect it to come to fruition in lighter materials and aerodynamics; we can deal just fine with that.
