Posted January 17, 2014 By Sia & filed under Autos

With all the hype swirling around NAIAS in Detroit, we acknowledge our top three debuts that stole the show to top of your week:

3. 2015 Lexus RC F Coupe

If someone were to tell us twenty years ago that Lexus would produce something as mean as the RC F Coupe, we would have smirked with skepticism, as Lexus was playing catch up with its German big brothers back in the nineties.  However, in 2014 things are more than a little different.  Shortly after Lexus revealed its redesigned 2014 IS sedan, it dropped the obligatorily sporty coupe counterpart to battle the likes of the new BMW M4 and Benz C63 AMG.  A 5.0-liter V8 with over 450 horsepower?  We’ll take it.

2. 2015 BMW M4

BMW reinvents its two-door icon as the highly anticipated M4.  BMW has transformed the former 3-series Coupe into its own 4-series line.  Many were skeptical of BMW’s marketing scheme to reinvent the 3-series Coupe as a “new” vehicle, however the car does live up to the hype.  The sharp-edged coupe is more powerful than its M3 Coupe predecessor with a  3.0-liter turbocharged inline six packing 425 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque.  The M4 is lighter than its retired M3 Coupe cousin, letting its 0-60 speed clock at 3.9 seconds with use of a seven-speed dual clutch tranny.  We’ll take one in black with saddle brown interior, but please, no mileage cap on this lease deal.

1. 2015 Corvette Z06

C7 Corvette news is viral, giving the moniker some revived popularity.  Chevy does not disappoint with its track inspired 2015 Corvette Z06.  What we get in this rocket ship is nothing short of head-spinning speed in a Corvette faster than its ZR1 predecessor.  Chevy fitted the coupe with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 busting out 625 horsepower and 635 pound-feet of torque to launch you toward your destination.  The Z06 boasts a race-ready aluminum frame with a removable roof panel for some open-air joyrides as well.  Many enthusiasts would consider the Corvette Z06  the most significant NAIAS debut, an instant classic injecting new life into a beloved American icon.  We can’t wait to take this speeding bullet for a spin.
