Absolute monster. The newest SUV out of Mercedes-Benz is the G500 4×4. You can think of it as a baby brother to the massive G63 AMG 6×6. This truck looks like money, and it’s going to take a lot to get one. The G500 4×4 will be going on sale later this year for $309,000 in the United Kingdom. That’s just for the base model without the optional Huchinson beadlock wheels.
The G500 4×4 will be powered by the same 4.0 twin turbocharged engine as the AMG GT. It should be putting out over 410 horsepower at 5,350 rpm and 450lb feet of torque to get the 6,605lb beast to 60 in 6.5 seconds. The 4×4 will be built alongside the regular G-Wagons in Graz Austria. Mercedes has announced that they will halt production on the 6×6 to keep the production number limited and keep value up. They did reveal that over 100 6×6 G63s have been sold to purchasers in the United States, Middle East, and Russia. The G63 6×6 was unveiled in 2013 and the 500 4×4 will be revealed at Geneva this year.
To show off it’s latest production, Mercedes has put together a great video demonstrating the 4x4s top features. It can trek through tons of mud, cut through 3 feet of water, and of course, go out on the town looking wonderfully different. It will be interesting to see the new infotainment system and how much of it they transfer from the AMG GT.
Watch the video below:
Hopefully it comes in more colors than just that construction cone green.
