When it comes to huge power figures at a relatively low cost, the Nissan GT-R R35 is a top contender. Based in Los Angeles, BulletProof Automotive, an international distributor of high end tuning parts for cars such as the GT-R, has built yet another car. They call this one the GT1 GT-R. The main focus was to add a ton of power and alter the body work to really make this GT-R stand out from the rest. As the name implies, the GT1 GT-R is based on the GT-Rs used in the FIA GT1 races. The goal was to create a wide-body, racing style GT-R for the streets.
For performance purposes, Switzer Performance was called upon to upgrade all of the engine and drive train components such as turbos, wastegates, exhaust system, intake, fuel modifiers and transmission. The exhaust was rerouted to the side skirts with a custom made system by Bulletproof. Tuned with a COBB Accessport, the car was pushing out a wonderful 1,072 horsepower at the wheels and a gut-wrenching 826 pound feet of torque. Imagine the launch mode on that. That power, unlike the FIA racing cars was made on pump gas.
Ohlin R&T dampers were used alongside a Skipper suspension system that lets the car clear obstacles on the road even with it’s lowered stance. To make the cars shape come together, various parts were sourced from manufacturers in Japan and then customized even more to match up. After getting the body all pieced together, everything was painted in Rosso Corsa Red (the traditional Ferrari color).
