Aston Martin Lagonda – Redefined Luxury Super Sedan
We love our Aston Martin V8 Vantage Convertible. It’s comfortable, elegant, and sporty (you have to hear the exhaust note). Now imagine all of that, and more in a super sedan. That super sedan would be the Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf which seats four very comfortably and has a top speed of 200 miles per hour. The 5.9 liter naturally aspirated V12 puts out 550 horsepower and is the same engine that can be found in the Rapide S in the United States. The power is pushed out through the rear wheels connected to a 6-speed ZF transmission, one of the smoothest automatics we have ever experienced. The Lagonda is almost 18 feet long, just a foot and a half shorter than the Rolls Royce Ghost. Weight is kept down by creating all of the exterior panels with carbon fiber, that also helps keep the car and paint cool in hotter climates. Inside the factory, the car is painted with seven layers of paint, then lacquered and polished for 21 hours.
The Lagonda is part of Aston Martin’s special projects division which means that the production run will be very limited. Aston plans on creating no more than 200 Lagonda’s and will price them for exclusivity. Each car will be customized to an extreme. An invitation is required just to get on the order list.
The Lagonda will be hand built in Gaydon, England. In the same factory where the One-77 Aston Martin was constructed recently. The first Lagonda Taraf super car sedans should start delivery within a few months and production of all 200 units will be done by the end of 2015. With buyers in the Middle East, United Kingdom, Singapore, and South Africa, the collection will be sold out soon.
