Featured Car Spring 2015: The 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS
This past weekend we acquired a Porsche Cayman GTS through our Lease Share program with a fellow Club Member. The first thing you’ll notice when you open the door is the vibrant Yachting Blue leather interior.
Everything from the doors to the steering wheel and shift knob have been wrapped in this marine layer, including the trunk liner. The execution provides a soothing backdrop to the performance oriented interior.
The most important button in the car is the Sport Plus button, which is located on the left side of the center console. This input is akin to giving the vehicle a shot of adrenaline and helps to increase throttle response, provide a throatier exhaust note, and shift through gears faster (hard to believe considering how quick the 7-speed PDK shifts in its default setting). On spirited drives, the Sport Plus delivers downshifts that can only be described as F-Type in nature without the decimal levels of the Jag.
But the best part about this car truly is the handling. With it’s mid-engine, rear-wheel drive setup, the GTS remains balanced and provides confidence on the road. To get the most out of the GTS, you have to put it in its element, which are tight mountain roads. In this setting, the GTS can give its big brother, the 911, a run for its money. However, don’t expect this car to woo you with its straight line performance, although it is relatively quick with the amount of power it does have.
