The Australian team from Car Advice got a day with the Tesla P85D on the track to themselves and they made great us of it. They put it up against 2 of Australia’s fastest sedans in 2, 1 on 1 drag races.
The Australian made HSV GTS sedan sports a 6.2 Liter Supercharged V8 with 680 horsepower and 626 ft/lbs of torque.
The Tesla easily gets the HSV off the line and keeps several car lengths ahead the whole time. But to make it interesting, they put the P85D up against a Holden V8 Supercar. 1 seat, full roll cage, the whole 9 yards.
The exhaust note of the Holden V8 Supercar is beautiful and aggressive, the noise alone makes you think the Tesla will have no chance after the initial launch, but again, the P85D made Tim Slade, the driver of the V8 Supercar feel hopeless.
