The S65 Cabriolet from Mercedes-Benz’s AMG performance team was set to be revealed publicly at the Detroit Motor Show (January 2016), however Benz decided to reveal photos and details on the car earlier this week.
The Cabriolet is scheduled to be delivered in April and houses the same twin turbo 5.5litre V12 as the S65 Coupé. The beast of an engine provides 621 horsepower and a MASSIVe 737lb ft of torque between 2300 and 4300rpm. The power is put out through the rear wheels with the help of a 7 speed automatic. All 4 wheels are 20 inches with 285/35 tires.
Even with an added 385 pounds of weight, the cab gets to 62mph in 4.1 seconds just like the coupé.
Without the Driver’s Package which includes better tires, the top speed is limited to 155. The driver’s package brings it up to 186mph. Fuel economy is surprisingly decent at 23.5mpg.
Pricing is expected to be upwards of $300,000.
