What has more trunk space than a Ford Focus, more power than an Audi R8 V10, and better fuel efficiency than a V6 mustang? The McLaren 570GT of course.

The third addition to the McLaren Sports Series is an exotic that Mclaren wants to double as your daily driver and weekend getaway car. It’s refined character is meant to appeal to luxury car drivers who demand performance, putting this vehicle squarely against the likes of the 911 Turbo S. With features such as soft close doors, lowered door sills (makes getting in/out much easier than the 12C/650S), and a panoramic plexiglass roof, the 570GT is as much of a delight for the passenger as it is for the driver.

To comfortably fit luggage behind the seats, McLaren created a curved shelf design which keeps items from flying forward during hard braking. The new hatch on the rear opens sideways towards the passenger side making it easy to pack without worrying about scratching the seats or panaromic roof.

Hidden below that storage space is a 3.8L twin turbo V8, which is essentially the same motor that powers the entire McLaren road going fleet. In 570GT guise, the engine produces 562bhp and 443lb/ft of torque which launches the GT from 0-62 in 3.4 seconds, just shy of the 3.1 second launch from the sportier 570S. The 7-speed dual clutch transmission provides for a very smooth ride in automatic mode. If you do get the urge to row your own gears, carbon paddles mounted to the steering wheel allow you more control. In either case, top speed is listed at 204 miles per hour.

Compared to the S, the GT provides a softer ride with lower spring rates, and an exhaust that is 3 decibels quieter (it can be optioned with a sport exhaust to revert back to the S exhaust). Although the wheels identical, the GT is shod in custom Pirelli P Zero tires with a noise isolating compound to reduce noise.
