It wasn’t long ago that we wrote about the Boxster 718 so the announcement of a Porsche Cayman 718 series with turbocharged engines was to be expected.
We loved our Porsche Cayman GTS with its 3.4L flat 6 cranking 340 horsepower, the sound was vicious and corners didn’t stand a chance against it. The 718 S replaces that 3.4 naturally aspirated engine with a 2.5 liter turbocharged one that cranks 350 horsepower and 309lb/ft of torque.
0-60 time? A fantastic 4 seconds, with a top speed of 177 miles per hour.
The changes aren’t all under the hood though, suspension has been tweaked, the steering rack has been tightened and the rear wheels are wider with larger brakes.
Inside the interior has had a full refresh and is of course very similar to that of the 718 Boxster S.
Deliveries are starting in November of this year with a base price of $67,000. We’d option it with the Sport Chromo pack and active suspension which adds canyon carving capabilities.
