We’re really excited to get our Tesla Model X later this month and this video showcasing all 3 of the current Tesla Models makes us just that much more excited. The team at Motor Trend got to spend a whole day at the Tesla Giga Factory in Reno, Nevada and the Tesla Model 3 was a major highlight in their coverage.
Tesla’s GigaFactory Building 1 is over 800,000 square feet and is currently manufacturing the Tesla Power Wall. Later on down the line they’ll be producing all of the batteries for the Model 3, S, and X.
Kim Reynolds, the testing director for Motor Trend did a great walk around of the Model 3 addressing a few controversial points including the very tight front and almost all glass roof top.
An interesting bit we noticed are the new door handles which are clearly different than those fitted on the Model S, these seem very similar to the handles on our Aston Martin V8 Vantage as they pop out of the door at an angle to be pulled on.
Even with a smaller size the Model 3 is going to be a very popular car among young families, and the it passes the car seat test!
Not only did they have the 3 new models out, but they brought an older Model S out to compare the new front ends side by side. In the image above, the 2017 model with a new facelift is on the right and you can see the new placement of the self-standing emblem, redesigned LED headlights, and tighter front fascia.
We are excited for the future of Tesla. Not only to receive our Model X and experience the Model 3, but also to see the supercharger network grow and have autopilot learn how to take over a driving route completely, from the Clubhouse to a destination and back, all hands free.
